80 policemen were involved in the operation to capture the criminal gang!

A large police operation in Istria resulted in the arrest of seven individuals suspected of organized drug trafficking, money laundering, illegal possession of weapons, and explosives. The suspects allegedly operated a network that distributed at least 1.9 kilograms of cocaine and over 330 grams of marijuana. Police estimate they earned nearly 200,000 euros from drug sales and attempted to conceal over 718,000 euros through bank and Aircash accounts. The funds were reportedly used for property development, vehicle purchases, and gambling. During the raid on June 17, police found drugs, hashish

In a major crackdown on organized crime, Croatian authorities have filed charges against 15 individuals, including 14 Croatian citizens and one from Bosnia and Herzegovina, for their involvement in a large-scale drug trafficking operation spanning several years. The indictment was submitted by the Office for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime (USKOK) to the County Court in Rijeka following an extensive investigation into activities involving the smuggling, distribution, and laundering of narcotics.

The alleged criminal network, led by a 34-year-old man identified as Anto Čabraja, operated between July 2024 and early February 2026. According to the indictment, the group coordinated efforts among multiple individuals, some of whom were based in Rijeka, Zagreb, and the Primorsko-Goranska County. Their operations included the procurement, transportation, storage, concealment, and resale of various illicit substances such as cocaine, amphetamine, MDMA, psilocybin, ketamine, hashish, and cannabis.

The network allegedly transported at least 25 kilograms of these drugs from Zagreb to Rijeka using couriers who were then responsible for delivering the narcotics to secure storage locations. Once there, members of the group would weigh, repack, and mix the drugs with fillers before distributing them in smaller quantities throughout the region. Some members were tasked with collecting proceeds from sales and funneling the money back to the central figure, while others used public transport routes between Rijeka and Zagreb to launder the funds under the guise of legitimate income.

The indictment also highlights specific instances where certain individuals engaged in direct drug sales. One defendant is accused of purchasing 300 grams of amphetamine in Omislj for €1,600 intended for resale. Another is charged with selling 6.4 grams of cocaine for at least €600, which led to his arrest when police found him in possession of the drug. Additionally, another individual is said to have sold amphetamines and cannabis to multiple persons over several months.

The operation reportedly generated illegal profits amounting to at least €63,500, which were distributed according to each member's role within the organization. In an effort to obscure the origin of these earnings, some members deposited the money into personal accounts and used it for purchases such as property investments, vehicle acquisitions, and gambling.

A significant portion of the investigation focused on uncovering the logistical aspects of the drug trade. It was revealed that the group had established hidden storage facilities in forested areas near Poreč and Kaštelir-Labinci, where they concealed portions of their inventory. These caches were later accessed for redistribution purposes. The group also utilized sophisticated methods to track their movements and manage transactions, employing digital scales, vacuum-sealing devices, and GPS trackers.

During a final raid conducted on June 17, 2026, approximately 80 police officers participated in the operation alongside USKOK agents. They searched homes, vehicles, and other locations suspected of being used for storing and concealing drugs. Among the items seized were nearly three kilograms of cocaine, more than three kilograms of marijuana, about 2.5 kilograms of hashish, and over €17,500 in cash along with 1,300 Swiss francs. Additional evidence included digital weighing equipment, vacuum-sealing tools, mobile phones, portable computers, and GPS devices believed to have been used during the commission of crimes.

Notably, the police discovered a substantial amount of weaponry and explosives, including five pistols, three hand grenades, 151 grams of plastic explosive with an ignition cap, a pistol silencer, and 582 rounds of ammunition. This discovery has prompted further legal actions regarding the possession of firearms and explosives.

Following the arrests, six men and one woman were handed over to the prison authority, while the woman was released due to lack of sufficient grounds for detention. The case continues to unfold as investigators work to determine all relevant circumstances surrounding the alleged criminal activities.
