Twelve South African Police Service (SAPS) members were injured and a motorist was killed in a collision on the N1 freeway near Polokwane. The crash occurred around 7pm on Friday near Astron Filling Station, involving a sedan traveling northbound and a SAPS minibus. The sedan reportedly veered out of its lane, leading to the collision, after which the minibus caught fire. The driver of the sedan died as a result of the accident. The injured SAPS personnel were transported to various medical facilities for treatment. Local authorities, including the MEC for Transport and Community Safety Violet Mathye and Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety spokesperson Mashudu Mabata, expressed their condolences and commended the quick response of motorists, law enforcement, traffic officials, and emergency services.
