Türkiye's jobless rate drops to historic low in June

Türkiye's unemployment rate dropped to 7.6% in June, the lowest level since records began in 2005, according to official data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). This decline represents a decrease of 168,000 unemployed individuals aged 15 and older compared to the previous month. The employment rate increased by 0.3 percentage points to 48.9%, with 32.73 million people employed. The labor force grew slightly to 35.42 million, with a participation rate of 52.9%. Gender disparities remain significant, with men having much lower unemployment rates (6.5%) and higher employment rates (66.1%) compared to women (9.8% unemployment and 32% employment). Youth unemployment also decreased to 12.8%, though it remains higher for women (17.3%) than for men (10.4%).
