Türkiye emerges as key alternative trade and logistics hub

Turkey has been positioning itself as a crucial alternative trade and logistics hub by diversifying its transportation networks and investing in new corridors since 2007. OMSAN Logistics board chairman Ergun Arıburnu emphasized the country's efforts to create secure trade routes amid global supply chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions. He highlighted projects like the Middle Corridor, the Zangezur Corridor, and the Hejaz Railway as part of Turkey's strategy to enhance its logistical capabilities. Arıburnu noted that increasing instability in regions like the Middle East has made secure trade routes more important, and he pointed out that disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have spurred interest in alternatives like the Suez and Panama Canals. Additionally, Turkey has expanded its influence through strategic investments in ports, such as Morocco’s Tanger Med, which OMSAN has established operations in, aiming to strengthen its presence in African markets.
