A foreign citizen discovered a non-explosive hand grenade from World War I in the river Soči near the regional road between Bovec and Trenta. The individual reported the find to the police, who identified it as an Italian-made S.I.P.E. type grenade from the First World War. The grenade was partially buried in water and therefore difficult to spot. Police secured the area and informed the appropriate authorities. A pyrotechnician from the State Unit for Protection Against Unexploded Ordnance (DENUS) safely removed and disposed of the device. The police emphasized that even century-old unexploded ordnance remains extremely dangerous and urged citizens not to touch, move, or attempt to remove such items themselves but to immediately report them to emergency services.
