President Donald Trump stated Sunday that the United States had launched strikes against Iran “very hard” in honor of three American servicemembers killed in recent days, as U.S. Central Command confirmed it had concluded its ninth consecutive night of attacks targeting Iran's military infrastructure. The operations aimed to reduce Iran’s capacity to threaten commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. According to CENTCOM, the strikes occurred following a series of attacks by Iranian forces against U.S. positions in Jordan. On Friday, two U.S. servicemembers were killed when an Iranian ballistic missile and drone strike hit American and allied forces. Four others were medically evacuated but later released from hospital care, while several more received treatment for minor injuries and resumed duties. Another American service member died in northern Iraq during a controlled explosion, with recovery efforts ongoing. This brings the total number of U.S. casualties in the conflict to 17. In his remarks, Trump emphasized that the strikes were conducted in remembrance of the fallen soldiers, whom he described as “great patriots.” He claimed that Iran had suffered extensive damage and had lost most of its military strength, retaining only limited capabilities such as missiles, drones, and minimal manufacturing abilities.
