Trump: Netanyahu will not be arrested in the US

Donald Trump, president of the United States, has stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested while in America. The remark came in response to recent statements by New York City mayor Eric Adams, who had suggested that his administration was considering the arrest of Netanyahu during his visit to the country. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump emphasized that Netanyahu would not face arrest under any circumstances while in the United States, citing his role in fighting against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which he claimed recently killed 52,000 innocent protesters and has been responsible for the deaths of American soldiers and others over the past 47 years. Mayor Adams, in a podcast with The New York Times, had expressed concerns about the legal actions that could be taken against Netanyahu, noting that the city’s legal department was actively exploring options. He described Netanyahu as a war criminal accused by the International Criminal Court (ICC). “What you will find is that this is a view shared by many people, exclusively due to the consequences of his actions over the years,” Adams said in the interview titled “The Interview.” The ICC issued warrants in 2024 for the arrest of Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the conflict in Gaza. Adams, when asked what the law allows in such cases, responded that discussions were ongoing with the city’s legal team. “This is an active discussion with our legal department.
