Trump would have moved the Infanta from the top of football to the top of the United Nations.

Infantino is leaving FIFA?

The article discusses speculation that U.S. President Donald Trump might want FIFA President Gianni Infantino to take on a prestigious new role at the United Nations. According to a report by the New York Post, Trump believes Infantino would be a suitable successor to current UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. A source close to Trump claims he respects Infantino globally and values his ability to connect people. However, the article notes that while Infantino has announced a candidacy for another term at FIFA, there is no confirmation he wants the UN position or that he has seriously discussed it with Trump. The article also highlights that if Infantino were to accept the role, he would need support from the UN Security Council and approval from the General Assembly. Additionally, it mentions that Infantino’s salary at FIFA is significantly higher than that of the UN Secretary-General.

Bias read (Center): The article presents information about potential political interest in Infantino's career move without overtly endorsing or criticizing either Trump or Infantino. It provides both the claim from Trump's side and the logistical challenges involved in such a transition, maintaining a balanced approach
