Towertop SUP pump in test: powerful air pump for kayak, SUP and mountain bike

The Towertop SUP pump with built-in battery has been tested and praised for its compact design and high maximum pressure. The hybrid pump, designed for stand-up paddleboards, inflatable boats, and even car tires, was evaluated in a detailed test. It features an 10.500 mAh battery that can inflate up to three standard-sized SUP boards (10.6 feet / 3.2 meters) or six car tires with one charge, achieving pressures up to 50 psi (3.45 bar) in custom mode. The device was tested at a price of 104 euros. The Towertop comes in a compact orange plastic housing, available in green as well. A practical carry handle is included, though it seems redundant given the accompanying plastic bag, which securely holds the pump and accessories during transport. Inside, three lithium cells each with 3500 mAh provide a total capacity of 10.500 mAh. According to the manufacturer, this allows for inflating three SUP boards with up to 12 psi (0.83 bar) or six car tires of size 195/65R15 with up to 35 psi (2.41 bar). If the battery runs out, the pump can still operate using a supplied 12V adapter for vehicle use, a useful feature for extended trips. The maximum pressure of 50 psi (3.45 bar) exceeds the typical 20 psi (1.38 bar) found in many SUP pumps. However, this higher pressure must be manually activated in custom mode. The two-speed regulation system offers a high flow rate of 420 liters per minute in the first stage for quick filling, while the second stage provides 100 liters per minute for stable final pressure. Integrated cooling fans and multiple ventilation slits ensure effective heat dissipation. Included in the package are eight different attachments, four of which are suitable for large air hoses, allowing the pump to fill SUPs, kayaks, boats, tents, pool floats, air mattresses, and more. Unlike most SUP pumps, it also includes an adapter for balls and car/bicycle tires. This versatility makes the Towertop unique, similar to the Einhell Pressito Hybrid with interchangeable batteries. The large LED display shows both current and set pressure simultaneously, making it easy to read even under sunlight. Other pumps have had difficulty with visibility in bright conditions. The automatic shut-off function reliably stops the pump upon reaching the pre-set pressure, preventing over-inflation. Charging via USB-C takes approximately 4.5 hours at 5 volts and 2.5 amps. In the practical test, the Towertop demonstrated its performance: a test SUP measuring 320 x 84 x 15 cm was fully inflated in 11 minutes and 5 seconds. While not a new record, this result is solid. The noise levels of both pump stages were surprisingly similar, neither particularly quiet, but tolerable in terms of sound quality. The battery reportedly supports three inflation cycles during testing. The hybrid functionality proves especially useful: although the 50 psi (3.45 bar) might not suffice for racing bicycle tires and some car tires, it works reliably for mountain bike tires and balls. During testing with a mountain bike, the pump performed consistently well. The automatic shutdown operates precisely, and switching between modes was smooth and reliable.
