A church burned down in a fire on the Pelješac peninsula

Additional resources were deployed after Croatian Defense Ministry officials confirmed that four Canadair aircraft originally assigned to fight fires in the Omis area had been redirected to Pelješac. An Air Tractor was also sent to assist with firefighting operations, highlighting the scale of the emergency. The fire has disrupted traffic on the state road DC414 between Prizdrina and Potomje, according to the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK). There are currently no detours available, further complicating access for both residents and emergency services. Earlier in the week, another fire had broken out on a different part of the peninsula. That incident was contained shortly after midnight on Thursday, but the recent blaze has proven far more severe and widespread.
