Deadly shootings: Revenge for cousin's death, brothers shot in court

Three Turkish brothers are standing trial in Berlin for allegedly shooting dead a 44-year-old man in January 2026. The prosecution claims the attack was an act of revenge for the death of their 31-year-old cousin, who was killed in a knife attack during a violent incident involving 40 to 60 people outside a local establishment in July 2025. The accused, all of whom hold Turkish citizenship and are Kurds from the southeastern part of Turkey near the Syrian border, are charged with murder and arson. According to prosecutors, two of the men shot the victim from a car and then set fire to the vehicle to destroy evidence. None of the defendants have prior criminal records. The trial is scheduled to last 19 days until November 2026.
