Od 12. avgusta 2024 bodo v slovenskih barih in restavracijah izginele majhne vrečke za enkratno uporabo, kot so sol, sladkor, kečap in druge dodatke, zaradi novih evropskih pravil o embalaži in odpadku (PPWR). Nova uredba, ki se začenja izvajati julij 2026, prepoveduje drobno plastično embalažo zaradi nesprejemljivega stopnje odpadkov, ki so težko reciklirati. Namesto tega bodo gostini na mize postavljene steklenice za ponovno polnjenje, kar bo spremenilo videz miz in zmanjšalo uporabo embalaže. Sprememba se razširi tudi na hotelsko industrijo do leta 2030, kjer bodo miniaturne stekleničke šampona in gela nadomeščene z dozirnimi napravami. The directive was developed over several years, reflecting a growing consensus among EU member states on the need to address plastic waste more effectively. The impact of this rule extends beyond just food service. By 2030, similar restrictions are expected to apply to other sectors, including the hotel industry. Hotels will likely see the gradual removal of small bottles of shampoo and body gel in bathrooms, replaced by fixed dispensers that allow for controlled usage. These measures aim to significantly cut down on single-use plastics while maintaining hygiene standards. There are exceptions to the rule, particularly regarding food delivery and takeaway services. Single-use packaging will still be permitted for orders intended to be consumed outside of the establishment, such as takeout meals. The EU has made this exception due to hygiene and logistical considerations, meaning that delivered pizzas or other foods can still include condiment sachets like ketchup or soy sauce. This regulatory shift reflects broader efforts to combat plastic pollution and promote sustainable consumption practices. While some consumers may initially find the change inconvenient, proponents argue that it encourages a more responsible approach to resource use and waste management. As the EU continues to refine its policies, the focus remains on balancing environmental goals with practicality and consumer expectations.
