"This is just the beginning": WHO's Scary Warning to Countries in Europe

The article discusses the recent heatwave in Europe, highlighting warnings from the World Health Organization (WHO) that these extreme temperatures are just the beginning. Regional director Hans Kluge warns that future summers will be even more severe, emphasizing that heatwaves are now recurring crises rather than isolated events. He notes that many European countries lack comprehensive plans to address rising heat extremes. The article cites examples of increased emergency calls and fatalities in France, London, and Spain, while also pointing to Barcelona and Paris as models for effective prevention strategies through cooling centers and measures targeting vulnerable populations.
