After heavy rainfall, the ground collapsed near Vrlika in Croatia, creating a deep and narrow pit approximately ten meters deep. A young calf fell into the hole and was unable to climb out. The owner of the animal contacted the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS) from the Split station for assistance. Three members of the Split team and one external collaborator arrived at the scene. Due to the narrowness of the pit, the rescue required extreme caution to avoid injuring or further frightening the calf during the extraction. Using appropriate rescue equipment and coordinated teamwork, the calf was successfully lifted to the surface by 15:45. The HGSS emphasized their readiness to assist in all circumstances, whether helping humans or animals.
