Three people unconscious after fire in Little India flat; they are among 5 taken to hospital

On August 3, a fire broke out in a fifth-floor HDB flat located in Little India, Singapore. Three individuals were found unconscious and among five people who were hospitalized following the incident. Firefighters and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the emergency, rescuing those trapped in the burning apartment. According to SCDF, the fire started in a bedroom and was extinguished using a water jet. Four of the victims are reportedly aged 70 or older, with one being over 50 years old. Local MP Denise Phua visited the site and confirmed that temporary housing and care packages had been provided to affected residents. Eyewitnesses described the rapid spread of intense black smoke and the difficulty in seeing due to the thick haze. Some residents recounted witnessing victims being carried out on stretchers, including a blind individual and someone with mobility issues.
