Think-tank claiming to be S’pore-based used AI profiles to target analysts, intelligence community

A Singapore-based think tank, the Institute of East Asia Strategic Studies (IEASS), has been accused of using fabricated employee profiles and AI-generated images to approach security analysts and intelligence professionals. The Straits Times investigation revealed that none of the listed experts could be verified through public records or professional databases, and several profile pictures appeared to be AI-generated. The think tank claims to be based in Singapore and founded in 2019, yet it is not registered there. LinkedIn profiles of some alleged employees show inconsistencies, including fake educational backgrounds and AI-generated images. All accounts were deleted by July 15, and no physical presence was confirmed at the claimed office location.
