Telangana launches Indiramma Housing scheme in Hyderabad; releases eligibility, application procedure, beneficiary contribution details

Telangana's government unveiled the Indiramma Housing scheme in Hyderabad on July 20, 2026, aimed at providing affordable housing in the Core Urban Region (CURE) area. The initiative includes the construction of high-rise residential flats with specific eligibility criteria, application procedures, and financial contributions from both the government and beneficiaries. Officials confirmed that applications for the scheme would be accepted from May 21 to August 10 via multiple channels, including MeeSeva centres, an online portal, and a dedicated WhatsApp number. The scheme targets residents who have lived in Hyderabad's CURE area for at least the past decade. Applicants must not currently own a home, flat, or plot within the Outer Ring Road or CURE region. Additionally, individuals who have previously benefited from similar housing schemes are ineligible. The application process involves submitting documentation and a ₹100 application fee alongside an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹10,000. This deposit will be refunded if an applicant is not selected and adjusted toward their contribution if they are chosen. According to the official brochure, each flat under the Indiramma scheme will cover a carpet area of 400 square feet with a built-up area of 528 square feet. The total estimated cost for constructing such a unit is ₹11 lakh. Of this, the government plans to provide a subsidy of ₹5 lakh, while beneficiaries are expected to contribute ₹6 lakh. This amount can be paid in four installments, ₹1 lakh, followed by two payments of ₹2 lakh each, and finally the remaining balance. The selection process involves a thorough review of applications, including document checks and verification of income and family details. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available housing units, a lottery system will be used to determine the beneficiaries. Once selected, applicants will undergo field verification and make staged payments before the final registration and handover of the housing units. The scheme is being implemented across 16 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad's CURE area, as outlined in the official brochure. These locations were chosen based on land availability, and officials indicated that the program could be expanded to additional constituencies in the near future. The Housing and Revenue Minister, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, stated that the government aims to construct one lakh affordable homes within a year. Land costs for these projects will not be charged to beneficiaries. The announcement comes after the State Cabinet approved the construction of these homes in CURE assembly constituencies in May. The minister emphasized that the scheme is designed to address housing needs in areas where land availability allows, and further announcements regarding benefits for the Middle Income Group (MIG) are anticipated shortly. The initiative reflects the government's commitment to providing accessible housing solutions tailored to the urban population's requirements.
