Planned strike at Mallorca airport: Delays

Workers at Swissport, the ground handling company at Palma de Mallorca Airport, have announced planned strikes in late July and early August. The labor union CCOO aims to push for improvements in workplace safety, organization, pay, and other working conditions. Strikes are scheduled for August 1st, 4th, and 8th, during which workers will walk out between 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Negotiations between employees and management ended without agreement, but CCOO remains open to further discussions. While delays and long queues are expected if the strikes proceed, major flight cancellations are unlikely due to Spain’s legal requirement for minimum staffing levels. Swissport handles ground operations for airlines including Condor, TUI, and Marabu at the airport.
