KRThe play 'Ikaino Samchun's Flag' by theater group Dol has been selected for the third Baek Hyosun Theater Award. The play depicts the life of a Korean woman who fled Jeju Island during the April 1948 Uprising (4·3 Incident), escaping massacre by moving to Osaka, Japan, where she eventually becomes a grandmother with 15 grandchildren. Directed by Kim Gi-gang, a third-generation Korean resident in Japan, the play was praised for its portrayal of diverse lives and voices, particularly highlighting the historical context of the 4·3 Incident. The award ceremony will take place on August 18 at the Mindeuri Small Theater in Gwangju, South Jeolla Province. This year, 29 plays were submitted from Seoul, Busan, Daegu, and Japan.
