Πρωθυπουργός Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης επισκέφθηκε το Κέντρο Υγείας Βάρης το απόγευμα, με σκοπό να επισκεφτεί την πρωτοβάθμια περίθαλψη και να ενημερωθεί για τις προσπάθειες της κυβέρνησης για την αναβάθμιση του Εθνικού Συστήματος Υγείας (ΕΣΥ). Η επίσκεψη έγινε συνοδευόμενη από τον υφυπουργό Υγείας Μάριο Θεμιστοκλέους και τον δήμαρχο Βάρης-Βούλας-Βουλιαγμένης Γρηγόρη Κωνσταντέλο. Ο πρωθυπουργός ξεναγήθηκε στις ανακαινισμένες εγκαταστάσεις του κέντρου από τη Διευθύντριά του, Μαρία Κραββαρίτου, και είχε τη δυνατότητα να συνομιλήσει με το προσωπικό και τους πολίτες. Το Κέντρο Υγείας Βάρης ανακαινίστηκε πλήρως με πόρους από το Ταμείο Ανάκαμψης, ενώ το προσωπικό του αυξήθηκε σημαντικά. Το κτίριο έχει έκταση 1.200 τετραγωνικών μέτρων και φιλοξενεί τμήμα επειγόντων, ακτινοδιαγνωστικό, τμήμα υπερήχων, εργαστηριακό τομέα και εξειδικευμένα ιατρεία. Το προσωπικό του έχει ενισχυθεί κατά 23%, αριθμώντας σχεδόν 50 άτομα.
Η επισκεψιμότητα του Κέντρου Υγείας Βάρης αυξήθηκε κατά 19% συγκριτικά με το 2019, και μόνο την περασμένη χρονιά δέχτηκε 37.264 επισκέψεις. Το Κέντρο αναφέρεται στα 156 Κέντρα Υγείας που αναβαθμίζονται ανά την Ελλάδα, παράλληλα με περισσότερα από 90 δημόσια νοσοκομεία, στο πλαίσιο του σχεδιασμού για την ουσιαστική βελτίωση της πρωτοβάθμιας περίθαλψης και του ΕΣΥ ευρύτερα. Το Κέντρο Υγείας Βάρης, το οποίο χρονολογείται από το 1989, ήταν σε προβληματική κατάσταση, αλλά έγινε πρακτικά καινούργιο και εξοπλίστηκε, έχοντας τη δυνατότητα να παρέχει ποιοτική πρωτοβάθμια περίθαλψη σε δεκάδες χιλιάδες κατοίκους της ευρύτερης περιοχής.
Στη δήλωσή του, ο πρωθυπουργός Μητσοτάκης υπογράμμισε την προσπάθεια της κυβέρνησης να αξιοποιήσει τους πόρους του Ταμείου Ανάκαμψης για την αναβάθμιση των υποδομών του ΕΣΥ. Επισήμανε ότι το Κέντρο Υγείας Βάρης είναι ένα από τα 156 Κέντρα Υγείας που ανακατασκευάζονται πλήρως με ευρωπαϊκούς πόρους. Συνέχισε να ευχαριστεί τους γιατρούς, νοσηλευτές και διοικητικό προσωπικό, τους οποίους χαρακτήρισε ως τους διαχειριστές του ΕΣΥ. Υπογράμμισε ότι γνωρίζουν τι έχουν κάνει, πού υπάρχουν τυχόν ελλείψεις, και ότι δεν κρύβουν τα προβλήματα.
