The Greek Foreign Minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis, emphasized during his meeting with the foreign minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Kobaković, in Sarajevo that the inclusion of the Western Balkans into the European Union remains a top priority for the upcoming Greek presidency of the Council of the European Union, scheduled for the second half of 2027. He stated that Greece would work diligently to achieve tangible results before the end of its term, underscoring the importance of the region's integration into the EU. This statement reflects a broader commitment to advancing the EU's expansion policy in the Balkans, a strategic initiative aimed at stabilizing the region and enhancing Europe's security and prosperity.

Gerapetritis highlighted the significance of the Declaration of Delphi, signed in April of the previous year, as a symbolic gesture reinforcing the irreversible direction towards EU membership for the Western Balkans.
