A remarkable feat of engineering has been unveiled in China with the opening of the Huajiang Canyon Bridge, which now holds the title of the world's highest bridge. Standing at 625 meters above the canyon floor, this structure surpasses previous records and marks a significant milestone in infrastructure development. Spanning nearly 2.9 kilometers in length with a main span of 1,420 meters, the bridge serves as a new transportation link through the remote province of Guizhou. Instead of simply draining the underground water, engineers built a reservoir with a capacity of 4,000 cubic meters. This collected water is used to supply nearby recreational areas and irrigate surrounding farmland. Any excess water is then pumped to the middle of the bridge, where it flows down into an artificial waterfall more than 600 meters below the river. The waterfall is approximately 300 meters wide and illuminated by laser lighting at night. Chinese media have labeled it as the world's tallest man-made waterfall.

The bridge has become a major tourist attraction. One of the pillars features a panoramic elevator leading to an observation café located roughly 800 meters above the valley floor. Visitors are offered activities such as bungee jumping and skydiving. During the celebrations of the Chinese New Year, the bridge attracted around 300,000 visitors, with over 70,000 vehicles passing through it during that time.

The construction of this extraordinary engineering marvel took three years. With this achievement, the province of Guizhou has broken its previous world record for the highest bridge.
