23 Austrians jump into the EM pool

Austrian swim team prepares for the European Championships in Paris with a squad of 23 athletes, including four women and 19 men. The Austrian Swimming Federation held a farewell press conference for the team at the Vienna City Beach Club. This year marks the first time the championships include para-swimmers, with Austria sending three athletes—Janina Falk, Andreas Ernhofer, and Andreas Onea—to compete in freestyle events over 50 and 100 meters. OSV President Arno Pajek expressed cautious optimism despite increased competition from Russian and Belarusian athletes. The event will begin on July 31 with diving competitions featuring Dariush Lotfi, Anton Knoll, and Nico Schaller. Open water swimming in the Seine will take place from August 4 to 8, followed by pool swimming from August 10 to 16, with notable young talent like 18-year-old Christian Giefing participating.
