An old house with a soul

The oldest house in Železniki, known as Plnada, has undergone a significant restoration thanks to the efforts of owners Aljoša and Bojan Fajfar. Originally built by Friulian blacksmiths from Palmanova at the end of the 16th or beginning of the 17th century, the house was inherited by the Fajfar family in 2000 and underwent extensive renovation starting in 2005. Despite challenges such as floods in 2007, which nearly destroyed the house, the family remained committed to preserving its historical authenticity while making it a functional home. The restoration followed guidelines from the Cultural Heritage Protection Institute, ensuring the house retained its original character.
