A ten-year-old girl named Nina Blanuša from Serbia is facing significant health challenges since birth and now requires urgent assistance from the public. Born in 2016 into a healthy pregnancy, Nina was delivered naturally at 38 weeks of gestation. However, she soon faced complications due to hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy—a condition resulting from a severe lack of oxygen to the brain shortly after birth. As a result, she required treatment in an incubator under oxygen therapy. By five and a half months old, she began experiencing focal epileptic seizures, leading her to start taking anti-epileptic medication from six months of age.
Nina has been diagnosed with two primary conditions: G80.0 Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy and G40.2 Symptomatic Epilepsy. According to the humanitarian foundation “Budi human – Aleksandar Šapić,” which is currently raising funds for her, she suffers from spastic quadriplegia, global developmental delay, epilepsy, strabismus, and a severe degree of scoliosis. Due to these conditions, Nina is unable to sit or walk independently. She has not yet achieved control over her bladder and bowel functions, and she has only partially developed head control. Her daily life requires constant parental presence and ongoing medical and therapeutic support.
To improve her quality of life and enable her to progress, Nina needs intensive physical treatments, speech and defectological therapies, specialist consultations, neurostimulation, osteopathic therapy, orthopedic aids, and mobility devices such as a wheelchair. The foundation reports that more than four million Serbian dinars are needed for her treatment and care, although some funds have already been collected. It also notes that the total amount required could change depending on additional expenses incurred during her treatment.
The foundation is actively seeking donations to help cover these costs. Those who wish to assist can send an SMS message with the number 1685 to the phone number 3030. Donations can also be made directly through the humanitarian foundation “Budi human – Aleksandar Šapić” or via electronic donations on the foundation’s user profile. Every contribution, regardless of its size, brings Nina closer to receiving the necessary therapies and treatments.
In addition to Nina's case, another individual, Milan Rabrenović, aged 25, is also in need of public support. Milan has been diagnosed with autism and experiences difficulties with walking and self-harm behaviors. He has suffered significant spinal deformation, making each step exhausting and tiring. Doctors recommend immediate surgical treatment at a private clinic. The required funds will cover stem cell treatments, immunological therapies, specialist check-ups, physical therapy, surgery, rehabilitation in spa conditions, laboratory tests, supplements, medications, diapers, orthopedic aids for dental services, travel expenses, and accommodation costs during his treatment.
The foundation is urging the public to come together and provide support for both Nina and Milan. Their cases highlight the importance of community solidarity in addressing complex medical needs and ensuring access to essential healthcare for individuals facing serious health challenges.
