Auditors analyzed a statistical sample of 160 pending underpayments and discovered that 69 were unresolved, leading to an estimate that around 610,000 underpayments totaling $195.7 million were owed to living recipients, alongside 444,000 underpayments worth $94.9 million to deceased recipients or their survivors.
