Dismantling of a criminal organisation with 46 incidents of fan violence in Thessaloniki
Greek authorities have arrested 20 individuals linked to an organized criminal group operating in Thessaloniki, primarily associated with sports fan violence. The group is accused of planning and carrying out organized attacks against fans of rival teams, some of which were recorded and shared on social media to demonstrate power within the fan community. Four serious cases have been investigated so far, including an attack with a hammer, theft of a motorcycle, and an incident involving the suspect in the murder of a 20-year-old man in Kalamaria last March. Additionally, members of the organization are alleged to have distributed narcotics at athletic venues during eight matches and elsewhere in the region. During searches, weapons, knives, bullets, over 1.6 kilograms of cannabis, heroin, cocaine, drug tablets, scales, two cars, and €8,610 were seized. Those who appeared in court today denied the charges, which include organized crime, robbery, drug trafficking, assault, threats in sports areas, attempted arson, and violations of gun laws.
