A famous musician spoke of a great struggle: "People came to say good-bye to me"

British musician Phil Collins has revealed he faced a severe battle with alcoholism in recent years, which nearly cost him his life. In an interview with The Sunday Times, the 75-year-old singer and drummer admitted to suffering serious kidney and pancreatic damage due to excessive drinking. He explained that after stopping medication called Antabuse, which causes physical reactions if alcohol is consumed, he began drinking heavily early in the day, leading to a loss of control. Hospitalized in November 2023, Collins spent seven months in the hospital, during which doctors considered whether to continue life support due to the severity of his condition. He described how people came to say goodbye, unaware he would recover. Collins credits his recovery to medical treatment and has remained sober since then. This is not the first time he has spoken publicly about addiction; in 2015, he acknowledged a period of depression and heavy drinking following his divorce. Health issues have also distanced him from drumming, which defined his career. Due to surgeries on his neck and spine, he can no longer play drums and performed mainly as a vocalist during his last Genesis tour in 2021. Collins
