On July 13, 2026, the collective Robida announced the fifth edition of the Summer School 'Academy Margin' in Topolove village, Benečija, running from July 20 to 26. This year’s theme, 'Tending Ruins,' explores ruins as spaces of learning, imagination, and community engagement. The initiative is based at Zetova House, an abandoned stone house purchased by Robida to protect it from inappropriate interventions and develop it into a communal space. The focus extends beyond this single building to examine broader themes of abandonment across the village and surrounding area, including overgrown terraces, dry riverbeds, abandoned houses, and fading local languages, traditions, and knowledge. Participants—15 individuals from around the world—will explore how to engage with these fragile worlds through questions of coexistence, learning, and building new communities. The program includes three thematic areas: ecological ruins, built ruins, and cultural ruins, each addressing different aspects of decay and renewal. The summer school will culminate in a two-day public program featuring radio broadcasts, concerts, lectures, and film screenings, with a detailed schedule published on July 15.
