SIT moves Supreme Court to question officer in Gade Sai Krishna custodial death case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has filed a petition with India's Supreme Court to question the accused in the custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna, challenging restrictions imposed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The SIT seeks permission to interrogate Circle Inspector S.S.V.V. Nagaraju of the Krishnalanka police station, who is accused of illegal detention, torture, and killing Sai Krishna in May 2026. The victim's family alleges that the body was cremated without proper procedures. Separately, the Krishnalanka police have filed a case against Nagaraju and his staff under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), related to the suspicious death of Perupogu Kranthi Kumar. Kranthi Kumar's father claims his son committed suicide after facing harassment and threats from Nagaraju and his aides, citing a video the victim sent to his mother implicating the police. Both cases are currently under investigation.
