Singer-songwriter ORIGIN, whose real name is Yzlvikxen Angkahan, has built a unique musical identity rooted in personal experience and artistic evolution. The artist name “ORIGIN” came about in a rather humorous and coincidental manner. While searching for a Discord username, he remembered purchasing a pair of shoes in the colorway “Origin Story.” The name stuck, and from there, his musical career began to take shape. A pivotal moment arrived on May 19, 2022, when he experienced a romantic heartbreak. This emotional event inspired his first original song, titled “NINETEEN.” Writing the track the following day, he discovered not only his ability to sing but also his talent for crafting meaningful lyrics. “I never stopped writing since,” he said, expressing how the process ignited a deeper connection to songwriting. ORIGIN released “NINETEEN” in early 2023, initially intending it as a one-off project to fulfill a personal goal of sharing a song on Spotify. However, the response exceeded his expectations. Fans began streaming the track and adding it to their playlists, prompting him to release additional songs. What started as a simple attempt to check an item off his bucket list evolved into a growing commitment to music creation. “I was confident about music from the get-go,” he stated, emphasizing his belief in his abilities despite uncertainty about his evolving sound. Three years later, ORIGIN continues to create music with increasing frequency and dedication. Based in Hiroshima, Japan, he now focuses on evoking nostalgia through his lyrics.
