Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid announces AI curriculum for all schools in UAE

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, announced the launch of an artificial intelligence curriculum designed to be implemented in all schools across the United Arab Emirates. This initiative, part of broader reforms approved by the UAE Cabinet, aims to integrate AI into both government operations and educational frameworks. The decision came during a cabinet meeting held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where Sheikh Mohammed chaired discussions focused on advancing the nation’s technological capabilities. He emphasized the need for continuous progress despite ongoing challenges, stating that the UAE continues to grow economically and socially. His remarks highlighted the significance of the Agentic AI project, which seeks to transform government services through advanced AI integration. A central component of the reform package is the introduction of an AI-focused curriculum in all UAE public and private schools. According to reports from the state news agency Wam, the curriculum will aim to equip students with essential technical knowledge regarding AI, while also promoting awareness of its ethical implications and understanding of related concepts such as data, algorithms, and potential risks. The plan includes training approximately 22,000 teachers and educators to effectively incorporate AI tools into their instructional practices, emphasizing the necessity for educators to remain adaptable and committed to lifelong learning. In addition to the educational reforms, the cabinet approved the establishment of the Cabinet AI Advisor system. This system comprises 32 specialized AI assistants tasked with analyzing policy documents, assessing their impacts, reviewing international best practices, and providing actionable recommendations to ministers. The advisors will continuously monitor decision-making processes and ensure alignment with national priorities, linking new initiatives to existing governmental strategies. The reforms also include provisions for the regulation and promotion of autonomous vehicles within the UAE. A new resolution outlines procedures for inspecting, registering, and licensing these vehicles, alongside guidelines for testing emerging technologies. These measures are intended to encourage the adoption of environmentally sustainable transportation solutions, thereby reducing road pollution and alleviating traffic congestion. The government also showcased its achievements in digital transformation, noting that over 308 million digital transactions were processed by government entities in the past year. Additionally, 15.8 million users downloaded government apps, accessing 1,633 digital services. Customer satisfaction with priority services reached 92 percent, reflecting high levels of public acceptance and efficiency in digital governance. On a global scale, the UAE maintained its leadership in areas such as communication infrastructure, digital literacy, and AI adoption. It also secured top rankings in cybersecurity indices, underscoring its commitment to maintaining secure and innovative digital environments. These advancements position the UAE as a leader in leveraging technology for societal benefit and economic growth.
