A nine-year-old girl named Amaira Meena, who attended the Neerja Modi School in Jaipur, reportedly took her life by jumping from the fourth-floor balcony of the institution nearly eight months ago. Her family has since released new CCTV footage they claim shows instances of bullying within the classroom just prior to the tragic incident. However, they allege she was then subjected to repeated bullying by other students. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals pronounced her dead upon arrival. In recent days, the Jaipur Police submitted a chargesheet related to the case. Nevertheless, Amaira’s parents, Vijay Meena and Shivani Meena, have criticized the investigation as incomplete. They expressed concern over the absence of the school principal, Indu Dubey, and the founder of the institution, Saurabh Modi, from the chargesheet, despite claims of institutional negligence. At a press conference held alongside representatives of the Sanyukt Abhibhavak Sangh, the parents argued that the police had not thoroughly examined the findings of a Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) inspection report. They contended that the report highlighted several irregularities, such as the employment of underqualified teaching staff. Vijay Meena emphasized that while filing the chargesheet marked a crucial step, true justice would require that all individuals deemed responsible be formally charged and arrested according to the law. Supporting the family’s demands, Arvind Agrawal, president of the Sanyukt Abhibhavak Sangh, noted that the case raises broader concerns regarding accountability within private educational institutions.
