His wife, who has chosen to remain unnamed, has filed for divorce, leaving him to live alone in a modest home in Chester. Amesbury’s downfall began in October 2024, when he was captured on CCTV punching constituent Paul Fellows, then 45, during a heated confrontation outside a taxi rank. Despite claiming he felt threatened, the footage showed him delivering multiple punches to a man who had approached him to discuss local concerns. Now residing in a three-bedroom semi-detached house in Chester, purchased for £260,000, he leads a markedly different life. He currently serves as a volunteer board member at SPACE Runcorn CIC, a community mental health charity that offers a café, counseling rooms, and a wellness studio. Additionally, he runs a consultancy firm, CampaignsCo, advising charities, businesses, and civic groups on public affairs and social impact initiatives. In a recent essay published on Substack, Amesbury detailed the emotional weight of his current situation. He described the sense of loss not just from the end of his marriage, but from the disruption of daily routines and the absence of familiar sounds and sights. “Home changes, routine changes, the sounds around you change,” he wrote, emphasizing how the physical separation from his wife and son has affected his sense of normalcy. He acknowledged the difficulty of expressing his feelings about missing the everyday aspects of fatherhood, such as helping his son get out of bed or engaging in casual conversations. Amesbury’s ex-wife, who has taken her maiden name, has remained in Frodsham. She has acquired a £480,000 detached four-bedroom red-brick house in the same area, indicating a deliberate choice to stay close to her roots. While the specifics of their separation remain private, the decision to move on appears to have been made independently by both parties.
