Black labor and fake perfumes in barbershops exposed

During targeted inspections of barbershops in Upper Austria and Salzburg between June 29 and July 5, Austrian financial authorities identified 77 legal violations. The checks uncovered cases ranging from illegal employment to the sale of counterfeit luxury perfumes. A total of 85 businesses and 172 employees were inspected, with 39 financial police officers and nine executive officials involved. Findings included eight instances of illegal foreign employment, three cases of tax evasion, 42 missing work time records, and violations of trade regulations. Additionally, nearly one in five businesses failed to comply with cash register requirements, and eight operators did not issue receipts. In Salzburg, a shop was found selling fake perfumes from well-known luxury brands.
