Russian strikes kill seven in Ukraine, day after shopping complex attack

Russian aerial strikes on Ukraine have killed at least seven people and injured many others, according to officials on both sides, with the attacks occurring just a day after a devastating strike on a shopping complex in the country. A second wave of attacks struck approximately 30 minutes later, reportedly targeting emergency responders attempting to assist victims. Ukrainian officials confirmed that the death toll in Kryvyi Rih has climbed to 16, with more than 130 individuals wounded, including 22 children. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack as “absolutely cynical and despicable” and an “act of barbarism.” He vowed a swift response, calling such actions “nothing less than terrorist acts.” In addition to the casualties in Kryvyi Rih, Russian ballistic missiles struck multiple locations in the Kyiv region, killing two people and wounding several others. Another strike in Zaporizhzhia claimed one life overnight and injured 15 others, while a daytime attack there left three dead and 15 hurt. A separate incident saw a minibus attacked in Zaporizhzhia, resulting in three injuries. On the Russian side, a Ukrainian drone strike in the Krasnodar region killed three people, including two children, and injured two adults. This marked a rare instance of retaliation against Russian territory, highlighting the shifting dynamics of the conflict. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy emphasized the growing strain on Ukraine’s defenses, noting that the attacks underscore the increasing threat posed by Russian airpower.
