Russia has issued an international warrant for the founder of Telegram

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has issued international arrest warrants against Telegram founder Pavel Durov, accusing him of facilitating terrorist activities. According to state media, the FSB claims over 153,000 criminal acts have been committed via Telegram since the start of the war in Ukraine, including 33,000 cases related to sabotage, terrorism, and extremism. The state newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports that security services prevented 475 planned terrorist attacks, including 61 targeting schools, through monitoring Telegram. Russian authorities also allege that Telegram was used to coordinate the 2024 attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall and to collect data on military personnel and their families. Meanwhile, Russia has threatened to replace Telegram with a state-controlled messaging app called MAX, which Moscow promotes as a secure alternative. Despite these efforts, Telegram remains widely used by Russian and Ukrainian soldiers on the battlefield, though some users report conflicting orders regarding its usage.

The FSB has issued a warrant for the founder of Telegram!
