The Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) has denied reports of a surge in communications such as compliance letters, notices, and other documents sent to taxpayers in July. It clarified that there was no unusual increase in activity during the month, noting that compliance letters scheduled for July make up just 9% of the annual total. Communications regarding irregularities sent in July have decreased by over 40% compared to the same period in 2025, representing 7.6% of the annual total. Notices issued in the first half of 2026 have also dropped by 9% compared to the same period in 2025. The agency emphasized that it has planned its activities carefully to avoid any overload before or after the suspension periods in August and December. Additionally, the agency announced that it will suspend notifications entirely in August, except for urgent and unavoidable matters. Meanwhile, the fifth round of the 'rottamazione quinquies' process continues, with regional authorities and local entities having until July 31 to apply for the simplified settlement of outstanding debts. This deadline was extended from June 30, 2026, under Law No. 113/2026.
