Travel: ADAC warns of increased congestion at weekends

The ADAC has issued a warning about increased traffic congestion across Germany over the weekend due to summer holidays in nearly all federal states. With schools closed in most regions, there is expected to be heavy travel on highways, particularly towards the south, north, and east coast. The A1, A7, and A95 highways are highlighted as areas of concern. Additionally, around 1,000 construction sites and several road closures are exacerbating the situation. The ADAC also warns of traffic issues abroad, including in Austria, the Netherlands, and other neighboring countries. Travelers returning home may face delays at border crossings, especially at specific locations like Suben, Walserberg, and Frankfurt/Oder. The ADAC recommends avoiding peak travel times on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning, and Sunday afternoon.
