Reddit aims to make ‘karma’ less important for first-time posters with shift to AI moderation tools

Additionally, the company is modernizing its legacy desktop interface, Old Reddit, by aligning its moderator workflows with the updated platform architecture. This includes migrating essential bots to the new system, ensuring consistency across all parts of the platform. These technical upgrades aim to create a smoother, more efficient experience for both administrators and everyday users. Reddit's strategic focus on attracting more daily users reflects broader business priorities. During its second-quarter earnings call, executives highlighted converting its half-billion weekly active users into daily users as a key growth objective. Despite reporting strong financial results, including $805 million in revenue and $1.25 in earnings per share, the company faced market volatility due to fluctuations in search referral traffic, which remains a crucial component of its user acquisition strategy.
