Ramírez Bedolla highlights investment in road infrastructure in Morelia

In recent developments, Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla of Michoacán has highlighted significant investments being made in the road infrastructure of Morelia, the state's capital. The governor emphasized that these efforts involve a total allocation of 4,367 million pesos aimed at improving mobility for both drivers and users of public transport, cyclists, and pedestrians. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance urban connectivity and ensure safer and more efficient traffic flow within the city.

Ramírez Bedolla underscored that the funds allocated for these construction projects are entirely state-owned and are being used to transform transportation systems in Morelia. During his inspection of segments 1, 4, and 5 of the second peripheral ring, as well as the Paso Catrinas, Monarca, Independence, and Eréndira interchanges, he noted the simultaneous execution of multiple works positioning Morelia among the cities with the most recent momentum in mobility infrastructure nationwide. This comes at a time when urban expansion necessitates solutions that facilitate better connectivity and more secure and efficient circulation.

The administration under Ramírez Bedolla is developing over 51 kilometers of new infrastructure in these segments, investing 2,900 million pesos to expedite vehicle movement in the western and eastern parts of the capital of Michoacán. Recently, the Eréndira Pass was inaugurated, which required an investment of 442 million pesos and will benefit 195,000 residents of the capital. This marks one of the most important stages in road infrastructure, being the fourth such project undertaken by the state government.

Governor Ramírez Bedolla stated that this new space addresses a long-standing societal need, helping to ease traffic congestion. He pointed out that the project includes not just a bridge but also an urban space for the people of Morelia, featuring amenities such as a skate park, outdoor gym, children’s play areas, pet-friendly zones, rest benches, safe pedestrian crossings, and surveillance cameras. These additions aim to create a multifunctional environment that serves diverse community needs.

This work complements a series of strategic projects initiated by the government of Michoacán to improve urban connectivity in its capital and reduce travel times in high-traffic areas. Several projects have already been completed, including the Monarch Road Distributor on the exit to Pátzcuaro, where 380 million pesos were invested, facilitating one of the busiest accesses in the capital.

Recently added to this list is the Paso Catrinas, which received an investment of 295 million pesos and is located in the Villas del Pedregal area, considered one of the largest residential developments in Latin America. Daily, thousands of motorists and public transport users pass through this location, highlighting the importance of such infrastructure improvements. Additionally, the construction of the Independence Road Distributor continues, funded with 350 million pesos, aiming to strengthen connectivity in one of the city's fastest-growing corridors.

The governor acknowledged that investment in road infrastructure has been identified as one of the main axes of urban transformation in Michoacán. As the projects continue to unfold, they reflect a commitment to addressing the evolving needs of Morelia's population while promoting sustainable growth and improved quality of life through enhanced mobility options.
