Her father, Marco Antonio Sogamoso Rubiano, was a candidate for mayor of Garagoa but did not win. Sogamoso began her political career in 2011 as a councilwoman in Garagoa. During the 2015 regional elections, her father ran for mayor but came second. In 2019, she ran for the Boyacá Assembly but lost. She won election to the Chamber of Representatives in 2022 with over 15,000 votes. Several judicial processes involving her relatives were revealed during her campaign, including her uncle Germán Sogamoso Rubiano, who is imprisoned for homicide, possession of weapons, and conspiracy to commit crime. Despite her conservative affiliations, she supported some projects from President Petro’s government. For the 2026 elections, she ran as a running mate to Juan Carlos Wills, who sought a Senate seat but was not elected, while she was re-elected to her seat.
