The current state of border crossings and toll stations in Serbia has been reported as largely clear, according to recent updates from local authorities and transport organizations. As of 5:15 AM, there were no vehicle delays on either passenger or freight terminals at Serbian border crossings, according to information received from the Border Police Administration. This update was shared by the Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Serbia (AMSS). Similarly, there have been no reports of traffic hold-ups at toll stations along the country’s motorways, further easing concerns for drivers planning travel during this time.
Following yesterday's stronger rainstorms, which significantly disrupted traffic in some areas, drivers today can expect more favorable but still variable weather conditions. The AMSS has warned that the beginning of the first July weekend could bring a sudden increase in traffic intensity on major road routes. This is due to the anticipated rise in both domestic and international travel as summer approaches. Drivers are advised to plan accordingly and remain cautious, especially near popular tourist destinations and transit corridors where foreign nationals frequently pass through.
In addition to these general advisories, the AMSS has also highlighted increased traffic congestion during morning and afternoon hours on urban roads, as well as on motorways leading to summer tourist attractions. These conditions are likely to persist throughout the week, particularly as the weekend approaches. The organization urges drivers to adjust their schedules and consider alternative routes if necessary.
Meanwhile, the company "Putevi Srbije," responsible for managing many of Serbia’s highways, has reminded drivers about the implementation of a new penalty policy starting on July 1st. This policy targets owners and users of fourth-category vehicles who fail to pay tolls electronically using a TAG device. Those who have not yet installed TAG devices are being urged to do so immediately to avoid additional fines and ensure smoother passage through toll stations. This measure aims to improve efficiency and reduce delays caused by manual payment processes.
At the same time, some border crossings have experienced longer waiting times for heavy goods vehicles exiting the country. According to data from the Border Police Administration, as of 7:30 AM, the longest waits were recorded at the Batrovci and Horgoš border crossings, where trucks faced approximately 180 minutes of delay. At the Šid crossing, the wait was around 120 minutes, while at Kelebija, the delay was approximately 60 minutes. No significant delays were reported for other types of vehicles at these locations. However, drivers transporting large cargo should remain vigilant and allow extra time when passing through these points.
On the motorway network, there have been no reports of vehicle delays at toll stations. Nevertheless, drivers are advised to exercise caution due to ongoing maintenance work on several road sections. For instance, construction activities are currently taking place on the motorway section between the Dusanovac loop and the Lasta loop, heading towards Niš. These works, scheduled from June 29th to July 1st, will take place between 22:00 and 5:00 in the evening, during which time traffic will be restricted to one lane, alternating with stop-and-go movement. Similar restrictions apply on the Golubinci-Popinci section, where two-way traffic will be limited to a narrower lane, with occasional vehicle alternation.
Additionally, rehabilitation work is underway on the Rogačica-Debelo Brdo route, resulting in alternating vehicle passage. This same system applies to the Kladovo-Militinovac section. On the Jasikovo-Debeli Lug route, full closure of the road is planned from June 30th to July 4th between 9:00 and 17:00, with alternative routes recommended as Bor-Donja Bela Reka-Rudna Glava or Petrovac na Mlavi-Kučevo.
These developments underscore the importance of staying informed about current road conditions and adjusting travel plans accordingly. While the overall situation remains manageable, drivers must remain alert and prepared for potential disruptions, particularly during peak travel periods. With the summer season approaching, careful planning and awareness of the latest updates will help ensure a safer and more efficient journey.
