Celje, 12 August 2026, The start of school has its traditions in Celje. On the first Friday in September, the Šolačinkarije return to the area around Citycenter Celje, offering a family-friendly, fun-filled and charitable gathering that will once again bring children and parents together with joy to kick off the new school year. The event, organized by Novi Tednik, Radio Celje, the Rotary Club Celje, and Citycenter Celje, will take place on Friday, 4 September 2026, starting at 4 pm. The parking lot in front of Citycenter Celje, near Gala Caffe, will become a vibrant hub of entertainment, music, sweet treats, and activities suitable for all ages. This fifth edition of Šolačinkarije promises a wide range of attractions, making it a beloved traditional beginning to the school year in Celje. From pancakes and šmorn to musical performances, dancing, magic shows, games, and educational content, the event offers something for everyone. Children and their parents can enjoy pancake and šmorn-making under the guidance of students from SIC Alme M. Karlin. Visitors can also indulge in ice cream from Omnj, while kids and their families can try out the AMZS’s reversing trainer and e-bike simulator from the Zavod Vozim, view equipment used by police and firefighters, ride mini go-karts, play on a bounce house, and participate in jungle-style activities. For a memorable photo of the start of the new school year, visitors can pose with mascots Gibi and Viki, who will also surprise the youngest attendees with some surprises. A portrait session will be available through Klavdija Simler. The event will also feature a variety of music, dance, and magic performances. Young performers Irena Vrčkovnik and medo Uri will lead a musical journey, while professional illusionist Magic Aleksander, well-known in Celje, will present his magical tricks. He has appeared in television programs such as Slovenija ima talent, Supertalent, and Britain's Got Talent, and his performances have been noticed by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Dance enthusiasts can join Plesna šola Kattan, who will perform alongside hip-hop and disco rhythms. Singers from the final round of the 12th season of the project Otroci pojejo slovenske pesmi will also take part, looking forward to sharing their joy with audiences. Šolačinkarije are more than just a celebration of the start of school, they are also a platform for charity. All collected funds and voluntary donations will be entirely allocated towards covering the costs of nature-based schools and camps for children from Celje’s primary schools. Every pancake, ice cream cone, or participation in the rich social event will help ensure that children can share meaningful school experiences with their peers. Visitors will also have access to a generous charity fair featuring prizes from Citycenter Celje’s shop partners, as well as interesting gifts from partners of Novi Tednik and Radio Celje. Among these prizes will be items from the Center for Space Technologies Herman Potočnika Noordung, Tehnopark Celje, Mohorjeva Družba, and many others. Friday, 4 September 2026, from 4 pm onwards, the parking lot in front of Citycenter Celje is reserved, come and join the event. Šolačinkarije have grown beyond being just an event into a cherished tradition of Celje’s community during the start of the new school year.
