A Kosovan-American company has officially launched the production of a ground-based military robot known as SideRunner. This marks a significant milestone in the country's technological and defense industry development. The initiative comes from Stridar Kosovo, which operates in partnership with its American counterpart, Stridar Inc. Together, they have developed and unveiled the SideRunner, an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) designed for multiple applications. The official presentation took place on June 30 at the US Embassy in Pristina during the Freedom250 celebrations, commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The SideRunner was created through collaboration between Stridar Inc. and Stridar Kosovo, combining American technology with local manufacturing capabilities. The goal is for Kosovo to become a central hub for producing and exporting this platform to European, American, Middle Eastern, and other international markets. The development of the SideRunner has been influenced by feedback and experiences from Ukrainian units and other international users. It has also undergone testing in cooperation with the United States Army to meet the operational requirements of modern missions. The robot is designed as a dual-use system, offering solutions for armed forces, security agencies, police, special units, emergency response teams, critical infrastructure protection, industrial inspections, and search-and-rescue operations.

Before the public presentation, Kosovo’s Minister of Defense visited Stridar Kosovo’s facilities, accompanied by representatives from the US Embassy in Kosovo. During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the company’s production capacities and the SideRunner platform. They were shown support for developing Kosovo’s defense industry and expressed interest in future collaborations. The start of SideRunner production is considered a crucial step in advancing Kosovo’s defense industry, as the country is now involved not only in using but also in designing, producing, and exporting advanced technologies. The project is expected to contribute to enhancing local production capabilities and strengthening Kosovo’s position in the global defense technology sector.
