Celebration of the municipal holiday of Sežán with music

The town of Sežana will celebrate its municipal anniversary with a month-long series of events, including music performances, cultural activities, and community gatherings. The main events will take place on August 28 and 29, featuring award ceremonies and musical entertainment. The celebrations began this Sunday and will continue until September 19, with over 40 events planned during the period. These include cultural, musical, and sports events, guided tours, exhibitions, social meetings, and presentations by local societies, institutions, communities, and businesses. The central part of the celebrations will start on Friday, August 28, with a formal session of the municipal council and the presentation of municipal awards and prizes for the year 2026. In the evening, the traditional event "Glasba in vino" (Music and Wine) will take place at the Kraško dvorišče Vinakras, with musical accompaniment provided by the bands Leut and Bačino. Saturday, August 29, will feature vibrant displays of local community life in Park pri Starem gradu, where local communities, public institutions, associations, clubs, artisans, and entrepreneurs will present their activities, initiatives, and members. In the evening, the popular groups Mi2 and Nočni skok will perform on the parking lot in front of the post office and bank. The festival programme connects locations throughout Sežana, Kosovelov dom Sežana, Park pri Starem gradu, and Kraško dvorišče pri Vinakrasu, with events held in local communities across the municipality. The diversity of the programme and venues reflects the diversity of the municipality itself, ranging from music, culture, and social gatherings to sports, presentations of local business, societies, and other organizations. The celebrations will continue on September 12 with a central celebration marking the day of the annexation of Primorska to its motherland. The events associated with this year's municipal holiday will conclude with the traditional Opasilo Lokev 2026. Mayor of the Municipality of Sežana, Andrej Sila, stated that the municipal holiday is primarily a celebration of people and communities that make up the municipality. He expressed happiness that each year so many individuals, societies, institutions, local communities, and other organizations contribute to creating the event. Their willingness to participate, connect, and do something for fellow citizens shows that community is not self-evident but built together through mutual respect, responsibility, and belonging to the space where we live.
