Mid-Adriatic drama: Passengers stranded at sea for hours after a ferry malfunctioned

Passengers aboard a Jadrolinja ferry traveling between Zadar (Gaženica) and Iž were stranded at sea for several hours due to a motor malfunction. The incident occurred while attempting to dock, leaving passengers floating between the islands of Iž and Ugljan until assistance arrived. One passenger reported that they were expected to arrive at 4 PM but the engines stopped working shortly after arrival, forcing them to wait for two hours before being offered complimentary drinks. The main Croatian ferry operator confirmed a minor technical issue on the Sis ferry operating on the Zadar-Bršanj-Iž-Rava-Mala Rava route, which has been resolved. They apologized to passengers and assured that the Jadran ferry would continue the service. With the help of a tugboat, the ferry safely docked at Bršanj harbor around 7 PM, allowing all 54 passengers on deck to disembark.

Bias read (Center): The article reports on a logistical disruption caused by a technical failure, focusing on the operational response rather than political implications. While the incident involves a state-owned enterprise (Jadrolinije), the narrative remains neutral, presenting both passenger experiences and the公司’s
