Poland blames Russia for firing missile into its territory as Moscow unleashes deadly attack on Ukraine

A Russian missile reportedly landed approximately 90 kilometers inside Polish territory, according to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who stated that all evidence points to it being a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile. The missile created a large crater in a field and prompted Poland to deploy NATO fighter jets, a refueling aircraft, and other assets to respond to the threat. While Tusk noted that Poland does not believe it was the intended target, the incident raises concerns about potential escalation in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This follows recent intense Russian attacks on Ukraine, which have resulted in at least eight civilian deaths, including children, and significant destruction. Earlier in 2022, a similar missile strike near the Ukrainian border killed two people. Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to seek additional Western support for air defense systems as it faces intensified Russian bombardment.
