After a brief refreshment, another heat wave is on the way: a new heat wave is expected in late July

Meteorologists have warned that residents should make the most of the cooler nights and mornings ahead, as a new heatwave is expected to arrive soon, potentially stronger than the one in June. According to Meteoinfo Slovenia, the coming days offer a chance to thoroughly ventilate and cool homes, as temperatures are set to rise sharply towards the end of July and early August. This upcoming heatwave could match or even exceed the intensity of the June wave, which saw several record high temperatures. The recent weather has brought some relief with cooler evenings and mornings, allowing for better indoor ventilation. However, this respite will not last long. The National Environmental Agency has forecasted partly cloudy skies during the day, with increased cloud cover in the eastern part of the country. On the coast, light breezes are expected. High daytime temperatures range from 21 to 25 degrees Celsius, with coastal areas reaching up to 29 degrees Celsius. By evening and night, clouds are expected to gradually move in from the north, bringing cooler conditions. Thursday is predicted to start off with mostly clear skies, but by midday, scattered showers and thunderstorms are anticipated, affecting much of Slovenia by evening. Winds will blow from the north, with gusty conditions along the coast. Morning temperatures will range from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius, while coastal areas near Trieste may see temperatures around 18 degrees Celsius. Daytime highs will be between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius, with coastal regions possibly reaching 28 degrees Celsius. Friday morning will bring fresh air as the sky clears up, with a pleasant breeze. The day will feature mostly sunny conditions with occasional cloudiness in the east. Winds will continue to blow from the north, with light breezes along the coast. Saturday is expected to be sunny, with winds shifting to the south-west, marking the beginning of a gradual increase in temperatures. This trend of rising temperatures is expected to continue throughout the weekend, with the heatwave likely to intensify over the coming weeks. The return of warm weather comes after a brief cooling period that followed the intense heat of June, during which several temperature records were broken. Notably, on June 28, Podnanos recorded a peak temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius, setting a new benchmark for the region. As the current cooling phase slowly fades, the weather outlook suggests a longer period of very hot conditions. The transition from cooler to warmer weather is expected to be gradual, with increasing chances of prolonged periods of extreme heat. Residents are advised to prepare for these changes, ensuring their homes remain comfortable as temperatures climb. With the potential for another intense heatwave, vigilance and preparedness will be key as summer progresses.
