Traffic congestion continues to worsen during the weekend, with long delays reported on several major highways in Slovenia. Drivers are encountering stoppages along the Primorska andŠtajerska motorways, as well as on parts of the Ljubljana ring road. A multi-kilometer queue has formed near the Karavanke interchange heading toward Slovenia and Austria, while another extends along the Podravska motorway between Podlehnik and Gruškovje in the direction of Croatia. The situation is further complicated by temporary closures and restricted traffic conditions affecting multiple routes across the country. The Primorska motorway saw increased travel times due to congestion between Unc and Postojna towards Kopře, extending the journey by up to 10 minutes. Delays near Postojna towards Ljubljana can last up to 40 minutes, according to data from the traffic information center. Light slowdowns with occasional standstills have been recorded on certain sections from Unc towards Ljubljana. On the Štajerska motorway, drivers are waiting in queues before Slovenske Konjice in both directions, towards Ljubljana and Maribor, with travel times increasing by approximately 20 to 15 minutes respectively. Congestion is also present on the western and southern ring roads around Ljubljana, including segments from the Koseze junction past Kozarje and from Viče towards Brezovica. Near the Karavanke interchange, a nine-kilometer-long queue forms in the direction of Slovenia, while three kilometers of delay occur heading toward Austria. The entry into Jesenice from the west towards Austria is temporarily closed. On the Podravska motorway, a three-kilometer-long holdup occurs between Podlehnik and Gruškovje in the direction of Croatia. Additional bottlenecks have developed on other regional roads such as Lesce, Bled, Šmarje, Koper, Izola, Strunjan, and Lucija, Izola. The Strmec, Mangart road is fully blocked due to fire suppression efforts, and authorities advise drivers to avoid the area. The main route between Slovenj Gradina and Ptuj will remain closed from the motorway exit Slovenj Gradina north to the branch leading to Lower Poland until 8 p.m. Complete closure of the Proletarskih Brigad road between Maribor and Dravograd will persist until 7 p.m. on Sunday. From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, the road between Ravnica on Koroska and Dravograd will be closed for asphalt work. Between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., there will also be restrictions on heavy goods vehicles exceeding a maximum allowed mass of 7.5 tons. These restrictions apply on the Primorska roads between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Additionally, the time window for overtaking prohibited for heavy trucks over 7.5 tons has been extended on the motorway between Šentilj and Kopře and on the Vipava fast road. From today onward, police will enforce this new regulation, which runs from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. This change replaces the previous restriction from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., which was in effect since January 15, 2021, and later expanded to cover all Slovenian motorways and fast roads starting November of the same year. During peak hours, staff at selected rest areas along the Gorenjska, Štajerska, and Primorska motorways will provide water, informational brochures, and remind drivers of the importance of maintaining a safe rescue lane. Preventive actions will take place between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at rest areas in Jesenice, Tepanje, and Lom.
